NJ's Top Court Recommends 30-month Suspension for NJ Attorney
In considering the appropriate level of discipline for an attorney suspended from practicing law in neighboring Pennsylvania, the New Jersey Supreme Court recommended that Scott P. Sigman be suspended from the practice of law for 30-months.
Sigman was admitted to the bars of New Jersey and Pennsylvania in 2001. This matter first arose from Sigman's misconduct involving the misappropriation of law firm funds in Pennsylvania. Usually this type of violation would result in an automatic disbarment; however, that ultimate form of discipline was not used this time. Many factors, both aggravating and mitigating are weighed when decisions like this are made. This case deals with reciprocal discipline between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
